Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners

Associate / Sr. Associate – Investment Team, CI Regulated Energy Grids

Do you want to join a global leader in energy infrastructure investments? Since our funding in 2012, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (“CIP”) have grown to become the largest dedicated renewable energy fund manager globally and seek to continue our growth towards raising EUR 100bn by 2030. We are committed to financing and building the energy infrastructure needed to secure a sustainable future for our planet. With our scale, expertise, and resources, we are in a position to drive the green transition of the energy sector and build value that matters.

The Team

There will be no transition without transmission. In order to enable the integration of vast amounts of renewable electrons into our energy system, we need to meaningfully expand investments in the grid infrastructure. By 2050, cumulative grid investments on the electric side are expected to total USD 20-30 trillion while hydrogen enabled pipeline infrastructure will total another USD 1 trillion. In response to this unprecedented investment need, we are launching a new fund strategy and are looking for people to assist us with bringing capital into attractive and necessary grid investments.

The new fund, CI Regulated Energy Grids, will invest in regulated transmission and distribution, as well as hydrogen grids in OECD countries. We are looking for a professional with 3-5 years of relevant experience to join the investment team based in the Copenhagen or London office.

Joining the investment team, you will contribute to the origination, structuring, due diligence, and execution of investments enabling the expansion of regulated electric networks so critically needed to ensure a successful energy transition. You will work together with a lean, diverse and highly experienced team of initially ~5 people in a high-pace collaborative, entrepreneurial and international environment.

The role

Based in Copenhagen or London with a primary focus on Western Europe, you will be an integral member of the close-knit investment team that works across geographies. The office language is English.

Responsibilities will consist of, but are not limited to:

  • Screening, market analysis, and due diligence of new investment opportunities
  • Financial modelling, valuation, and structuring of investments
  • Working with and managing external advisors and partners, including legal, financial, and technical, to execute investments
  • Development of analysis and high-quality presentations for internal decision makers and external stakeholders
  • Mentoring analysts and securing the quality of their deliverables

You

The work environment at CIP is fast-paced, stimulating, global and demanding. We are therefore looking for a motivated, collaborative, and analytical professional holding a relevant master’s degree within Economics, Finance, Business, or other related fields and 3-5 years of work experience in a similar position.

Key qualifications include:

  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills and very high attention to detail
  • Solid corporate finance and financial modelling experience
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks in Europe or the USA is desirable
  • Ability to work independently and within tight timelines, while still being a team player with the confidence to exercise judgement appropriately, engaging with colleagues at all levels of seniority
  • Advanced written and verbal communication in English
  • Ability to work well in a time-sensitive setting and take on responsibility
  • Substantial experience with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with energy or infrastructure or previous exposure to a buyside role is a valuable asset
  • Other European languages are beneficial
