Manager, Co-investment Team

The team
You will join a highly motivated international group of best-in-class colleagues with exceptional experience in investments in energy and infrastructure assets. Co-investments are increasingly important to LPs and CI V is the first CIP flagship fund to offer co-investment opportunities to its investors. The firm has recruited an experienced Director to help lead this process and is now seeking to recruit a Manager who will work alongside the Director to structure, launch and run a EUR 1 billion+ global co-investment program. In time, it is anticipated that the co-investment team will also support other CIP strategies including the Growth Markets, Energy Transition and Advanced Biofuels funds
In this position, you will report to the Partners of the firm, you will work closely with both the Investor Relations team and the Flagship Funds investment teams in Europe, the United States and Asia, working across technologies and geographies. You will be an integral part of establishing and structuring the CIP co-investment program that will also include syndications, secondaries, continuation vehicles and wider capital formation activities including bringing partners/co-investors together to support M&A transactions.
The role
You will be an important member of an international and dynamic team focused on making projects happen and adding real value to investments and the transition to net zero
Responsibilities will consist of, but are not limited to:
- You will be the interface between CIP investment teams and the investors, working alongside the deal teams to help determine the co-investment strategy on individual projects
- Lead the day-to-day management of co-investment processes, managing and answering due diligence questions and handling negotiations
- Help to prepare and present co-investment papers to the Flagship Funds investment committee and work alongside each co-investment projects respective deal team
- play a key role in helping to develop and manage long-term relationships with a global investor base comprising large pension funds, sovereign money and insurance-backed capital
- work with these clients to understand their needs, support their portfolio construction objectives and ensure that the correct partners are approached on specific transactions
- train juniors on the co-invest process, and will contribute to the positive, professional and collegiate working environment
You
The work environment at CIP is fast paced, stimulating, global and demanding. We are therefore looking for a self-driven, collaborative, and analytical professional holding a relevant master’s degree within Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, or other related fields with work experience in a similar position in an international organization.
Key qualifications include:
- With a strong academic background and a relevant degree from a leading university, you will likely bring around five to seven years of relevant professional experience which will include prior experience of working on co-investments and ideally, exposure to clean energy infrastructure projects
- The experience may have been gained in a co-investment role at another principal investor, in a co-invest/secondaries investing team or, possibly on the advisory side in a capital advisory or secondaries advisory team.
- Thorough, analytical and diligent, you will be commercially astute with a strong technical grounding which will include solid financial modelling skills
- Highly numerate and literate and have excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communications skills, and a genuine motivation and drive to forge a career as an investor with CIP
- Be a team player with the confidence to exercise judgement appropriately, engaging with colleagues at all levels of seniority
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills and very strong attention to detail
- Ability to professionally manage junior resources as well as external advisors
- A self-starter attitude with tenacity, initiative and a willingness to commit to deliver the required results
